Trent Harmon at Music Ranch!
Our 97 Country Listener Appreciation shows are one of the favorite things we do at the station. It’s a chance to hang out with our loyal listeners and give them the chance to get up close to some of the greatest talent coming out of Nashville. Our latest show, on September 22nd, brought American Idol Trent Harmon to town. During his hour long set, he proved that his pipes are just as powerful in person as they were on TV.
After the show, attendees were able to take pictures, tell Trent how many times they voted for him, and even sneak in a couple of autographs. Meet and Greet photos are available for download on our 97 Country Facebook page.
All of our Listener Appreciation Shows at Music Ranch are FREE, but do require tickets. Shows and ticket giveaway dates are announced on 97 Country, so keep listening!

Granger Smith at Boots
Hey everyone! It’s DJ. Last night, I pulled on my swim trunks and braved Tropical Storm Hermine…. or Hurricane Hermine…. or Tropical Storm…. the weather people can’t seem to make up their minds. Whatever, I had to make my way through a bunch of rain to do my duties at Boots N Buckles.
Our good friend Granger Smith (also known as Earl Dibbles Jr) was performing again and I was elected to announce him. I always enjoy getting to talk with the artists and see all the fans at our local saloon! I have to say, I told Granger that he should be mighty honored that as many people came out to see him! No hurricane….. er, tropical storm…. can keep the country fans away!
Thanks to Granger Smith, John, Mac Daddy, and everyone at BnB for a great night! For those of you who couldn’t come, I tried Facebook Live for the first time and got some of his performance. Head over to my FB page to check it out!
Puppies, 97.5, and Kate…. Oh My!
Lakeland is home to a great group of radio stations (obviously), but it is also the Spring home to the Detroit Tigers. Amongst those Tigers is a man by the name of Justin Verlander, who just so happens to be in a relationship with this slightly attractive and famous woman named Kate Upton.
Justin and Kate (as we like to call them) make their home in Lakeland while down here for Training. It’s not odd to hear of them being spotted at one of the local restaurants or on the golf course. However, it is a rare opportunity to be able to be asked by their teams to help out with an event they’re participating in.
We were glad to be a part of the SPCA Grand Slam Adoption Event held at Tigertown, prior to a Spring Training game recently. While Justin was preparing to pitch, Kate was out and about meeting fans, playing with the dogs, and granting us interviews. It was truly a fun afternoon!
