Kelly Clarkson Performs Cover Of Go West’s ‘King Of Wishful Thinking’

Kelly Clarkson performed a cover of British pop duo Go West‘s classic hit “King Of Wishful Thinking” during the “Kellyoke” segment of a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

Clarkson and her band Y’all were joined by a trio of horn players, while the three-time Grammy winning-singer changed the lyrics to “queen” instead of “king.”

“I’ll pretend my ship’s not sinking/ And I’ll tell myself I’m over you,” she sang. “‘Cause I’m the queen of wishful thinking.”

“King of Wishful Thinking” was written by Peter Cox, Richard Drummie and Martin Page. It was featured in the film Pretty Woman and appeared on its soundtrack.

The song later featured on Go West’s third studio album, Indian Summer, in 1992, peaking at No. 8 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart and No. 18 on the U.K charts.
