Country singer Kelsea Ballerini has shared a new single, “Heartfirst,” which marks her first new music of 2022.
“It’s all about just following your heart (and) trusting your gut,” Ballerini explained about the upbeat, breezy song. “I really believe that nothing great happens in life unless you take the risk and you take a leap of faith, and that’s what this whole song is about.”
Ballerini co-wrote “Heartfirst” with Karen Fairchild and Alysa Vanderheym. Julian Bunetta and Shane McAnally produced the song.
“Met him at a party / Accidentally brushed his body / On the way to get a drink at the bar / I couldn’t wait ’til later / Talking in the elevator / Then we’re kissing in the back of the car / That voice in my head says to slow down / But it can’t see the way you’re looking at me right now / It may not be next week what I need / Then again, maybe it might be,” she sings in the new song.
