Taylor Swift Receives NSAI's Songwriter-Artist Of The Decade Award

Taylor Swift Receives NSAI's Songwriter-Artist Of The Decade Award

Taylor Swift recently received the Nashville Songwriters Association International's Songwriter-Artist of the Decade award.

Swift received the award on Tuesday, September 20, at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium during the annual Nashville Songwriter Awards. Swift gave a 13-minute acceptance speech in which she discussed her approach to songwriting, re-recording her first six studio albums after dispute with her label and more.

"I'm up here receiving this beautiful award for a decade of work, and I can't possibly explain how nice that feels. Because the way I see it, this is an award that celebrates a culmination of moments," Swift said when accepting the award, as transcribed by Pitchfork.

She continued, "Challenges. Gauntlets laid down. Albums I'm proud of. Triumphs. Strokes of luck or misfortune. Loud, embarrassing errors and the subsequent recovery from those mistakes, and the lessons learned from all of it."

"This award celebrates my family and my co-writers and my team. My friends and my fiercest fans and my harshest detractors and everyone who entered my life or left it. Because when it comes to my songwriting and my life, they are one and the same," Swift added.

Wynonna Judd Gives First Interview Since Mother's Death

Wynonna Judd Gives First Interview Since Mother's Death

In her first interview since Naomi Judd's death, daughter Wynonna Judd said she was shocked over her mother's untimely departure.

Naomi Judd, the legendary country music star and one half of The Judds, took her own life on April 30 at the age of 76.

She breathed her last just one day before her scheduled induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame along with her daughter Wynona.

In an interview for "CBS Sunday Morning" to be broadcast Sunday, September 25, Wynonna said, "I did not know that she was at the place she was at when she ended it because she had had episodes before and she got better. And that's what I live in, is like, 'Was there anything I should have looked for or should I have known?' I didn't. That's why it's such a shock."

"I feel her nudging me. And sometimes, I laugh," she added. "And sometimes, I say, 'I really miss you. Why aren't you here so we can argue?'"

Wynonna said she is honoring her mother by continuing with The Judds' tour they had announced just weeks before Naomi died.

The 10-date arena tour, titled "The Judds Final Tour," in celebration of the life and legacy of Naomi Judd, kicks off on September 30 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Kelsea Ballerini Tells Story Of True Friendship In 'If You Go Down (I'm Goin' Down Too)'

Kelsea Ballerini Tells Story Of True Friendship In 'If You Go Down (I'm Goin' Down Too)'

"If You Go Down (I'm Goin' Down Too)," a track released by Kelsea Ballerini from her new album Subject To Change, finds the country star telling the story of true friendship.

The song, which Ballerini co-wrote with Julian Bunetta and Shane McAnally, sees her telling a sort of Thelma & Louise-style story.

The song's acoustic intro features rhythmic guitar, fiddle and dobro instrumentation.

"I've known you since Brad and Angelina / We go back like Pontiac seats / If I got an aisle with a mess I gotta clean up / I know you'll be showin' up with bleach," Ballerini sings in the first verse.

Then comes the catchy chorus, "If you go down, I'm goin' down too."

"Hypothetically, if you ever kill your husband / Hand on the Bible, I'd be lyin' through my teeth," she sings, assuring that she would help her friend to even cover up a crime.

The video shows Ballerini showing off a 1950s-style outfit and hairstyle. She is also seen talking on the phone, doing her nails and makeup and cleaning the house while seemingly unaware that the world is ending outside her window.

Willie Nelson Recounts Suicide Attempt In New Memoir

Willie Nelson Recounts Suicide Attempt In New Memoir

Legendary country musician Willie Nelson recounts a suicide attempt in his new memoir.

"Me and Paul: Untold Tales of a Fabled Friendship," which was published on September 20 via Harper Horizon, explores Nelson's relationship with late drummer Paul English.

English was Nelson's longtime drummer who started playing with him in Fort Worth in 1955, although he did not become Nelson's regular drummer until 1966.

The book is filled with several humorous incidents from throughout their friendship. However, one incident that stands out is a rough patch in Nelson's career and his suicide attempt. With the help of English, Nelson says he regained his footing and went on to become one of the greatest country stars of all time.

Besides being the drummer for Nelson's band, English was a key figure and close friend of the country legend. He also acted as his bodyguard and accountant, among other roles. English died on February 11, 2020 of acute pneumonia, at the age of 87.

English was the titular "Paul" of the Nelson album Me and Paul as well as the title track of that album. English also had a role in Nelson's movie Red Headed Stranger (1986).

Vince Gill Provides Update On Wife Amy Grant's Health

Vince Gill Provides Update On Wife Amy Grant's Health

Amy Grant, who was injured in a bike accident in July, is making progress on the road to recovery.

The update on Grant's health was provided by her husband Vince Gill in an interview with Entertainment Tonight while on the red carpet for his TV special "CMT Giants: Vince Gill."

In Grant's absence, Gill was accompanied by his two daughters Corrina and Jenny in Nashville, Tennessee.

"She's doing great. She's pretty torn up that she couldn't be here tonight but with her accident and all of that, they kind of deemed that the best thing for her to do is just be still," Gill told ET.

"That's hard for her because she is very active," he added. "She knows that she is well thought of, well loved and represented tonight, so it's all good."

Grant suffered cuts and bruises after she fell while cycling with a friend near the Harpeth Hills Golf Course in Nashville on July 27.

The 61-year-old "Baby Baby" singer was discharged after a brief hospitalization at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Doctors have ordered additional recovery time at home.

Grant postponed all her upcoming fall tour dates to allow more time for recovery.

Grant will resume touring with her Christmas tour with Michael W. Smith and her annual "Christmas At The Ryman" residency with her husband, according to her manager.
