The Grand Ole Opry has apologized to fans for Elle King‘s awkward performance at a recent Dolly Parton tribute.

The incident took place during a concert honoring Parton’s 78th birthday at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville last Friday.

While performing a cover of Parton’s 2001 song “Marry Me,” the singer-songwriter and actress admitted to the audience that she was intoxicated and forgot the lyrics to the track.

In video footage posted online, she can be heard saying, “I don’t know the lyrics to these things in this f***ing town. Don’t tell Dolly ‘cus it’s her birthday. I’m not even gonna f***ing lie. y’all bought tickets for this s**t, you ain’t getting you’re money back. And I’m gonna tell you one thing more: Hi, my name is Elle King, I’m f***ing hammered.”

Following the faulty performance, social media was filled with a flurry of complaints and fans demanding refunds.

Responding to one of them on X, The Grand Ole Opry offered apologies over the incident, saying, “We deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last night’s second Opry performance.”

The tribute concert also featured performances from Terri Clark, Tigirlily Gold, Ashley Monroe, and Dailey & Vincent.
